The Legendary Thailand Tour begins and ends in Chiang Mai, and features the ancient and very beautiful rural area of Thailand's northeastern provinces.
Much of the route follows the path of the Mekong River, which constitutes the border between Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. Stunning landscapes provide a glimpse of the Thailand of old, with rice fields reaching to the horizon, pedal-operated rickshaws, and water buffaloes being used to work the land.
The tour includes:
- Scenic winding mountain roads through traditional Thai villages and farmlands.
- Sukothai Historical Park
- Kanchanaburi Province and the "Death Railway Bridge" - better known as the Bridge over the River Kwai
- Parts of the “Mae Hong Son Loop”: with its 1,864 bends the most popular motorcycle road in Thailand
- The optional climb of Doi Inthanon: from 1,500 to 7,500 ft altitude in 20 miles -Thailand’s highest peak
- Visit to the Elephant training centers and an Elephant hospital
- Panoramic views of the mountains of Laos across the Mekong River.
- Numerous ancient archaeological sites, including Phanom Rung, one of the most breathtaking historical sites in all of Thailand.
- Khao Yai National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's greatest parks. The park includes one of the largest intact monsoon forests remaining in mainland Asia. It is home to more than 300 elephants.
