This 17-Day Adventure has been carefully crafted to offer some of the best riding and most popular attractions in three different countries. The tour includes the luxury accommodations, upscale dining, and exciting group activities that have become synonymous with an Ayres Adventure. The tour price includes airport transfers, all breakfasts and dinners (including non-alcoholic beverages), ferry crossings and park entry fees, and numerous activities. The itinerary takes place entirely on good paved roads and is ideal for a two-up getaway.
The Adventure begins as soon as you arrive at the airport in Lisbon, Portugal where our tour leaders will meet your flight and accompany you to our 5-star accommodations in the charming seaside resort of Cascais. Your luggage (as well as non-riding companions) will be transported in our spacious support vehicle.
From Cascais, you’ll ride to Portimão for an overnight stop at this quaint Portuguese seaside resort. This traditional little Portuguese town, with it's quaint cobblestone streets, was once a haven for smugglers and pirates.
After taking a ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar, you’ll spend your first Moroccan night in Tangier, where the North African portion of the Adventure continues. Key attractions of Morocco include:
- Luxury accommodations, including Kasbahs and 5-Star hotels.
- A two-night stay in the imperial city (and USESCO World Heritage Site) of Fez. Our tour includes a guided walking tour of the Medina of Fez el Bali, the old walled city (founded in 789) which is reputed to be the largest contiguous car-free urban area in the world. Fez is reputed to be the most interesting and picturesque of the four Imperial cities in Morocco.
- A two-night stay in Erfoud, a base from which we’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities in the Sahara Desert, including riding the dunes on quad bikes or camels, as well as a four-wheeled tour of the famed Paris-Dakar Rally tracks.
- The option to a night in a desert bivouac (tented camp) under the stars. This unique experience is offered as an alternative to spending a second night in our 5-Star Kasbah.
- A two-night stay in Marrakesh, home of the largest souk (traditional market) in Morocco and the location of one of the busiest squares in Africa – Djemaa Square. The square bustles with dancers, acrobats, musicians, snake charmers, and tradition food vendors.
- A visit to the British Colony of Gibraltar, on the Strait of Gibraltar on the Spanish coast.
- Andalusia, Spain, including a two-night stay in Sevilla.
- A night in the Portuguese town of Monsaraz, a walled city with a pleasant medieval atmossphere. The town is referred to as "the jewel in the crown of the Alentejo region of Portugal".
Interested in staying a bit longer? Book this April version of this trip and our 10-Day Portugal and Spain Adventure and we'll pick up the hotel charge for the additional three nights you'll spend in Cascais (5-Star Hotel, of course) until the Portugal and Spain Adventure begins. And except for the evenings in Cascais, there won't be any overlap with the itineraries for the two trips. For additional information about our Portugal and Spain Adventure, click here!

Because of increased demand for our Portugal, Spain and Morocco Adventure, we've added a trip beginning March 15, 2010. Jamie Elvidge will be on this trip for Motorcyclist Magazine and will be writing an article that will appear in a subsequent issue of the magazine.
Jamie has covered our trips in Alaska, Africa, and South America and we've always enjoyed having her on tour with us. She's a terrific rider, a great writer, and a professional photographer. Apart from that, we think you'd enjoy riding with her.
If you think you'd enjoy traveling with Jamie, book the March 15, 2010 Portugal, Spain and Morocco Adventure. |
