Royal Riviera Adventure

This 13-Day Adventure begins and ends in Nice - the capital of the French Riviera. This special tour will be hosted by Daniel Johansson, one of our Directors who has a home in Nice, France. Daniel is intimately familiar with motorcycle touring along the French and Italian Riviera and has agreed to share his favorite roads, accommodations and dining spots with us.

The tour is divided equally between France and Italy, as riders experience the best of the Mediterranean and the island of Corsica. From "jet set" locations such as Nice, St. Tropez and Monte Carlo to picturesque villages and towns that date from the Middle Ages, the riding will be fantastic as we make our way along twisty roads featuring stunning vistas of the sea at nearly every turn.

Although all of our Premium Motorcycle Tours are distinguished by upscale lodging and accommodations, the Royal Riviera is the most elegant trip we've ever offered. The accommodations, dining and cultural activities that have been incorporated into this special tour have been carefully selected by Daniel. Lodging will be limited to 4-Star and 5-Star boutique hotels and upscale dinners will be served á la carte. At least two dinners will be offered in upscale restaurants which have earned a star in Guide Rouge (previously known as the Michelin Guide).

Our itinerary will be:

Day 1 - Arrival Day. One of our tour leaders will meet your flight and transport you to Haut de Cagnes, a charming village complete with a medieval castle. After an early evening reception and kickoff meeting, we'll enjoy dinner at one of the village's intimate restaurants. Prepare to be spoiled as we introduce you to the wonderful food that the Mediterranean area offers.

Day 2 - We ride to St. Paul du Vence and Valbonne on the way to the ocean. Our leisurely lunch break in Monaco will provide time to visit the harbor, the Casino and the historic part of town. After lunch we'll have a stunning ride to the very quiet (and very famous) village of Bordighera where we'll spend the evening. For centuries, the town has had a monopoly on providing the Vatican with palm leaves for Holy Week. The palms are gathered from the trees along the promenade Lungomare Argentina.

Day 3 - After a ride to San Remo ("The City of Flowers") for a cup of coffee,we'll ride to the the old town of Genoa (reputed to be the birthplace of Christopher Columbus) for lunch. After lunch, we'll visit the most famous and picturesque spot in Italy (if not the world) - Portofino. We'll stay in a beautiful beach hotel at Santa Margherita.

Day 4 - We'll ride beautiful, twisty coastal roads to Cinque Terre ("The Five Villages"). We'll spend two nights in Monterosso, one of the villages that are strung along 18 kilometers of serrated cliffs between Levanto and La Spezia. The villages are truly one of Italy's treasures and have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 5 - The rest day in Cinque Terre will provide time for leisurely walks through the villages, some additional riding in the area, or relaxing on the beach. Motorized traffic is not permitted in the villages, which are connected by train, operating mainly via tunnels through the mountains.

Day 6 - Today's ride takes us through the Tuscany region of Italy to Pisa, where we'll see the leaning tower of Pisa. We'll continue to Florence, in the heart of Italy's Tuscany region. There will be time before dinner to visit Pontevechio and Bargello National Museum - the largest stone palace in Firenze, built in 1255.

Day 7 - After riding to Livorno we'll take a ferry to Corsica where we'll enjoy stunning landscapes and fantastic riding. We'll spend two nights in Calvi - famous for the island's great seafood restaurants. The location is a favorite stop for huge yachts.

Day 8 - The free day on Corsica will provide a full day of stunning riding on this French island.

Day 9 - We'll depart for Marseille and we'll spend the night with luxury accommodations on the ferry.

Day 10 - Arriving in Marseille, we'll ride to one of the most famous cities on the French Riviera - St. Tropez.

Day 11 - The free day in St. Tropez will provide time for relaxing on the famous Nikki Beach, or for additional riding in the area.

Day 12 - We'll cross Esterel Mountains to Cannes, where we'll have lunch. After lunch we'll stop in Antibes where we can visit the Picasso Museum and see the biggest yacht harbor in the world. The Adventure ends in Nice where we'll enjoy a final celebration dinner at a world famous restaurant.
