Please be sure to get your room reservation before you register for Hyder
Seek 2009! We're accepting almost as many slots as there are rooms in
all of Hyder and Stewart, so please don't sign up for Hyder Seek 2009
in the expectation that you'll be able to get a room. There are places
to camp immediately behind the Sealaska Inn, but you'll have to exercise
caution regarding the bears!
If you wish to stay in Hyder, please contact the Sealaska Inn or the Grandview
Inn.
The numbers for the Sealaska Inn are 888-393-1199 or 250-636-2486, and
their web site is http://www.sealaskainn.com.
The only other hotel/motel in Hyder is the Grandview Inn, just a short
walk up the road from the Sealaska. The number is 250-636-9174. There
are only ten rooms, and they sell out for Hyder Seek very quickly.
Kathy's Korner is a highly recommended B&B, located between the Grandview
and the Sealaska. The number is 250-636-2393 and the web site address
is http://www.theinnkeeper.com/bedandbreakfast/Alaska/Hyder/8841.html.
Stewart, British Columbia is a short walk/ride (less than two miles) from
Hyder and has a few hotels and some bed and breakfast rooms. The Stewart,
British Columbia and Hyder, Alaska International Chamber of Commerce website
is at http://www.stewart-hyder.com.
Another web page containing interesting information about the area, including
additional lodging, can be found at http://www.stewartbchyderak.homestead.com/homepage.html
The largest hotel/motel in Stewart is the King Edward. Their numbers are
800-663-3126 or 250-636-2244 and the web address is http://www.kingedwardhotel.com.
The newest hotel in Stewart (and one of the areas finest) is the Ripley
Creek Inn. Their phone number is 250-636-2344 and their web address is http://www.ripleycreekinn.homestead.com.
Another is the Stewart Mountain Lodge, 418 6th
Ave, Stewart, BC. Contact Dave and Christy Craig at 250 636 2640.
Their web site is http://www.stewartmountainlodge.com.
If you'd like to rent a vacation home, the Oceanview Guest House in Stewart,
BC is walking distance from the Canal, and is close to local museums,
shops and restaurants. Their phone numbers are 250-636-9119 or 250-636-9292,
and their web address is http://www.stewartguesthouse.com.
Another option in British Columbia is the Grizzly Lodge Guest House at
Meziadin lake. Telephone 1-250-636-2657 days, 1- 600-700-0282 evenings,
email meziadin@lincsat.com.
If you can't obtain a room and you don't want to camp but you want to
come up for the fun anyway, there is another option, but you'll have to
(perish the thought!) ride a bit. The Bell II Lodge is about 100 miles
north of Hyder on the Cassier Highway. The Cassier Highway is a
very nice paved road between the Meziadin Junction and the lodge, with
some spectacular scenery. The lodge has a nice restaurant and gift
shop, and gasoline is available there. You can find their web site
at http://www.bell2lodge.com
