There is ice, in Iceland!
Today was a short ride but once again, just as beautiful as all the other days of this ride! Not a single day has gone by without an ‘Oh wow’ moment! Riding along today we skirted around the Vatnajokull ice shield with dozens of glaciers leading off towards the ocean. On the right we had glaciers, on the left we had the ocean for the days ride. Breathtaking!
We stopped at Jökulsárlón Lagoon where we enjoyed a wonderful boat ride that took us up the face of the Breidamerkurjoekull Glacier as the captain carefully manoeuvred the boat around the many icebergs floating around the lagoon. The boat gave us such a wonderful view of the glacier and the icebergs.
A quick lunch stop and we were back on the road and enjoying more wonderful views of several glaciers and waterfalls! Tonight we are staying in a hotel with a small golf course and a ‘hot-pot’ in which the riders can sit back and relax in the warm spring water!
