The Cape Colony Adventure

South Africa’s Cape Colony has a rich and interesting history. A Dutch East India Company expedition of 90 Calvinist settlers, under the command of Jan van Riebeeck, founded the first permanent settlement near the Cape of Good Hope in 1652. By the late 1700s the Cape Colony was one of the best developed European settlements outside Europe or the Americas. Today, the area is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful areas in the world and a motorcycling paradise.
Highlights of the Cape Colony Adventure:

  • Cape Town arrival and departure, with two overnight stays on Cape Town’s vibrant Waterfront.
  • An overnignt stay in Lamberts Bay, a charming little fishing village that is off the tourist path. Enjoy a “sundowner” on the ocean at what is surely one of the most unusual eating establishments you’ll ever experience. Dine on great, fresh seafood, including lobster.
  • A two-night stay in Oudtshoors, in South Africa’s Klein Karoo. The free day provides plenty of time for local riding, including the Swartberg Pass to Prince Albert and the stunning ride through Meiringspoort.
  • South Africa’s famous and very scenic Route 62 – the longest wine route in the world.
  • Cape L’Agulhas – the southernmost point on the African continent.
  • The Cape Peninsula and Chapmans Peak Drive – one of the ten most scenic rides in the world.
