Curves of Croatia Motorcycle Tour in Europe, Day 1

Welcome to Ljubljana, the capital and largest city in Slovenia! The tour leaders will arrange your transport from the airport to our hotel. If you arrive early there are plenty of things to do and see just a short walk from our tour hotel. Ljubljana is a wonderful pedestrian-friendly city with the medieval Ljubljana Castle, city square, stunning bridges and the National Gallery, to name but a few ‘must-see’ places.

In the late afternoon, we will meet for the motorcycle handover followed by a brief kickoff meeting. Afterwards, we will enjoy our first dinner together as we sample the local cuisine.

Curves of Croatia Motorcycle Tour in Europe, Day 2 Our first day of riding will take us along very scenic roads, over rolling hills, and through small farming towns as we travel through the Slovenian backcountry to cross the border into Croatia.

Croatia has a mostly hilly topography with charming mountain villages as well as a spectacular coastline dotted with picturesque fishing towns known for their Venetian style architecture.

Our destination, Rovinj, is located on the western coast of the Peninsula of Istria, the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. An early arrival will allow time to explore this charming town with its cobblestone streets, boutique shops and stunning architecture. And for the perfect ending to the day, be sure to catch the spectacular sunset over the Mediterranean Sea!

Curves of Croatia Motorcycle Tour in Europe, Day 3 Leaving Rovinj, we will ride across the southern tip of the Istrian Peninsula towards Matulji. From there we will follow the Croatian coastline for most of the day. Be prepared for a stunning ride – the scenery and twisty roads along the Adriatic Coast are absolutely breathtaking! We will stop at multiple viewpoints and visit several of the charming villages we pass.

For those who would like to enjoy some additional riding, there is an optional loop into the mountains after Senj, before continuing on the last stretch of the coastal road from Karlobag.

Our destination tonight is Zadar, best known for the Roman and Venetian ruins of its peninsular Old Town. An early afternoon arrival will allow time to explore a few of the Venetian gates found in the city walls.

According to movie producer/director Alfred Hitchcock, Zadar is the place with “the most beautiful sunset in the world”!

Curves of Croatia Motorcycle Tour in Europe, Day 4 From Zadar, the coastal route becomes known as the Dalmatian Coast, which is reputed to be the most beautiful section of coast in Europe.

A relaxed scenic ride will get us into the exceptionally beautiful city of Split in the early afternoon.

After lunch, a local tour guide will take us on a guided walking tour to acquaint us with the city and reveal some of the history of this beautiful part of the world.

There are numerous activities to choose from on this free day. Tour 4th century Diocletian’s Palace in the city’s historic center where scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed. Visit Peristil Square, the original Roman court, where 3,500-year-old Egyptian sphinxes reside. Riding to Dubrovnik, the “Pearl of the Adriatic”, we will follow the rugged coastline with its colorful villages, enjoying never-ending sweepers. About 30 miles before our destination, we will cross the 6-mile long “corridor” of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Dubrovnik’s historical walled city is absolutely stunning and has so much to offer and see that we will be spending two nights here.

Curves of Croatia Motorcycle Tour in Europe, Day 8 Today we leave the coast behind as we head inland and cross the border into Bosnia – Herzegovina, where the landscape, riding and temperatures will notably change. We will travel on small twisty roads over rolling hills and through small farming communities.

Our destination, Mostar, on the Neretva River, is one of the most beautiful cities in Bosnia – Herzegovina, and is known for the picturesque Mostar Bridge. Originally built in the 16th century, the bridge was destroyed during the war in 1993 but was rebuilt and opened again in 2004. Be sure to take an afternoon walk around the city and over the Mostar Bridge. The Koski Mehmed-Pasha Mosque’s minaret offers wonderful panoramic views of the city.
