Today we continued North in Botswana from Palapye towards Nata. We had about 340 km to go and decided to start early to avoid riding in the heat.
The temperature rose quickly and luckily the roads towards Francistown were in good condition with the roadworks completed. By 11am I already saw 38 degrees Celsius and secretly I was glad to be in the backup vehicle with the air-conditioning at full blast.
Our group handled it well and made good progress stopping for refreshments at a local shebeen.
We also made the mandatory stop at a Boabab tree before reaching Nata lodge in time for a swim and a drive on the Makgadigadi pans. One of the best places to experience an African sunset!
Tomorrow we will make our way to Kasane and one of the highlights of the tour, the sunset cruise and of course Victoria falls.
