Again the sun was smiling on us and after we navigated out of the city of Awara (famous for its Onsens), we were entering the Japanese Alps, which divide the island of Honshu. Lots of bikes on the road – from vintage Japanese ones to Harley’s and even Beamers! On sunny Sundays even the Japanese have the time to go for a ride… The highlight of today was a visit of the village of Shirakawago, old farmhouses with thatched roofs in a valley still almost snowed in. It’s a major attraction, but definitely worth the visit!Japan Cherry Blossoms, Motorcycle Tour in Japan, Day nine - from Awara to Takayama

One hour after the visit we arrived in Takayama, famous for its Sake breweries and the old houses in the center. The rooms are now back to Western style, but the dinner stays Japanese!
