Well, our trip was billed as the Indian Summer in the Alps. What was it actually? IT WAS AN AMAZING, HEART POUNDING, EXHILARATING, WONDERFUL MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURE THROUGH AND OVER THE MOST SCENIC ALPINE PASSES, AROUND THE TIGHTEST MOUNTAIN CORNERS, CARVING THE MOST TECHNICAL MOUNTAIN SWITCHBACKS, DOWN THE STEEPEST CANYONS, AND THROUGH THE MOST QUAINT, IDYLLIC LITTLE TOWNS THAT GOD HAS PERMITTED TO BE BUILT ON HIS BEAUTIFUL PLANET!! And, can you say Passo Di Stelvio??!! How amazing?! We did it!! We loved very second of this amazing adventure! If we could hit a reset button and do the entire trip exactly the same way again, we would do it in a heartbeat! The motorcycles were cool and their BMW performance put my Harley Davidson back home to shame. The hotels were architecturally and visually beautiful and the hotel rooms were clean and fresh and had fantastic accommodations. The foods, the restaurants, the drinks were delicious and flowed. So many wonderful new foods and drinks to try and we did. The Dolomite Mountains and Swiss Alps were visually stunning! The air was pure and fresh and the perfect weather was a gift from God. Our tour leaders, Claus and Janis, were the most wonderful characters. The friendship and camaraderie between the two men was evident from the beginning and they made all of us on the tour feel welcome and confident in their leadership. We all became instant friends and Claus and Janis did everything in their power to make us feel special. Our entire tour group came together and really worked well as a team of riders. Everyone was packed up and ready to go first thing in the morning for our morning tour meeting (and biker blessing!) and everyone stuck together and rode well as a unit. Many of us had communications systems in our helmets that enabled us to communicate with one another and to “yuck it up” along the way. At one point, our guides wondered what was going on because we were all laughing so hard while stopped at a stop sign that he thought something was wrong! :) This was a special 35th Wedding Anniversary trip for my wife and me. It was a time to celebrate a season of life together and to thank God for His provision and blessings. In those majestic mountains, one could feel the presence and awe of God. It was a fitting place to give thanks to Him for this wonderful world and our chance to ride motorcycles upon it. This trip was worth every penny to us. We, truly, had the trip of a lifetime! Thank you, Ayres Adventures. Thank you, John and Bonny. Thank you Claus and Janis. And thanks to all our friends that toured with us! We love you all. :)
